Arriving at Haig Avenue on the back of an 18 game unbeaten run Gola League Kidderminster were the obvious favourites for the tie and Southport had to rely on a twice taken penalty by Peter King goal to earn a replay at Aggborough.


A number of players are known to have played for both teams, right-half/ inside-right Jimmy Wyllie (1950-51) and right-winger Dickie Marshall (1965-66) are the earliest known and in more recent years the following men have also played for both sides: Chris Anderson, Ian Arnold, Sean Clancy, Jim Cumbes, Mike Marsh, Jon Newby, Josh O’Keefe and Declan Weeks.
