Jamie Chandler rescued a point for Gateshead against 10-man Southport.
The hosts went behind after two minutes through Luke George’s cool finish, but Chandler levelled the scores, pouncing on Emmanuel Monthe’s poor clearance.
Southport were reduced to 10 men early in the second half after Monthe’s second booking, before taking the lead when Jason Walker fired home.
But Gateshead levelled with just two minutes remaining, Chandler grabbing a second following a James Marwood ball.
The draw means Southport are still searching for their first away win since August, while the home side remain in the play-off places.
