Barrow 3 v 1 Southport

Southport took the lead early on as Neil Robinson was fouled on the edge of the area, with Matty McGinn’s free-kick flying into the net.

Barrow’s response was swift, going down the other end with Nick Rogan and Matt Kerr forcing Tony McMillan to make a good save from the shot, forcing the ball away for a corner. Moments later, a volley from former Port player Rogan skimmed over the top.

Barrow came out with a bit more vigour in the second half, and within seven minutes Andy Bond broke, and with only McMillan to beat, lifted the ball beyond the Port keeper putting the ball into the back of the net.

Southport went behind in harsh circumstances as Paul Tait was adjudged to be fouled on a surge forward, with the resultant penalty calmly put away by Nick Rogan.

Brendan McGill caught Southport pushing to far forward as they sought an equaliser, with the winger composing himself well as he only had McMillan, before slotting the ball home.
