Southport go down to just the second home defeat of the season losing 2-1 to Peterboorugh Sports who have become something of a bogy side to The Sandgrounders.
A rather dull and non descript first half with chances at a preminum for both sides saw the visitors take the lead on 27 minutes when Eliot Putnam powered home a header past Chris Renshaw after an excellent delivery from a free kick.
Southport came out with a lot more purpose in the sceond period and created more chances but were wasteful in front of goal when the opportunities did present themselves.
Sports were reduced to ten men in the 62nd minute when Bayley McCann was shown a second yellow card. However it was the visitors who increased the lead in the 70th minute with the impressive Dan Jarvis finishing from close range.
Southport huffed and puffed and introduced 4 subs at the same time to freshen things up and had plenty of posession but were lacking a cutting edge until David Morgan’s shot took a big deflection and flew into the back of the net in the 89th minute.
With 7 minutes of added time it gave the home side a chance to grab an unlikley equaliser but it was not to be and Peterborough esaily saw out the added tine to record a fine win on the road.
