A night to forget in Leamington with the impressive home side running out comfortable 3-0 winners.
Southport started quite brightly with Sam Minihan going close and we did create a few chances but Leamington fully deserved the win.
The night went from bad to worse with Keenan Quansah receiving a second yellow card in the 60th minute. Our first red card of the season.
Six bookings on the night after only having 13 all season!
The Leamington goals were a result of set pieces in the 25th and 48th minutes from corners and a penalty in the 62nd minute after a Quansah foul which duly resulted in a red card.
Southport did look to have the ball in the net in the 65th minute with the players and supporters behind the goal saying the ball was well over the line but the referees assistant didn’t flag and we were denied a “consolation” goal when down to 10 men. Subsequent video evidence does give the players and supporters a strong case!
Thank you to everyone who travelled down to support the lads.
We go again on Saturday with league leaders Scunthorpe United the visitors to Haig Avenue.
