An 11th home draw of the season brings the home campaign to an end.
It was a keenly fought game with our visitors in desperate need of the points and it was a need that became greater when the news came through that Guiseley were beating Spennymoor.
The first chance of the game fell to Jack Bainbridge in the 7th minute when he headed against the post and the ensuing scramble was cleared away by a frantic Telford defence.
Telford went close to opening the scoring through former ‘Port player Devarn Green who fired just wide after a great break down the wing.
Southport took the lead in the 33rd minute when a trademark long throw from Doug Tharme was headed in to his own goal by Reiss McNally.
It didn’t take long for the visitors to equalise when an uncharacteristic mistake by Supporters Player Of The Year Cam Mason allowed Robbie Evans to fire home.
The second half was a tale of missed opportunities particularly by the visitors who had four clear cut chances to take all three points back to Shropshire. Those misses nearly proved costly and as they pushed players forward desperately needing the three points both Niall Watson and Bainbridge could easily have given the home support the win they were hoping for in the final home game.
