Square Platt, Auctioneer, Valuer, &c., 59 Chapel Street, Southport – Mr .Platt commenced business in Southport in 1884, at 19, London Street, and removed to his present most commodious premises in September 1888. These comprise a handsome suite of offices of two floors. He has an exceedingly extensive connection as a house and property agent, as may easily be seen from the lengthy lists of most eligible properties of all kinds, “for sale” and “to let” at all times displayed in the windows, as well as in the Southport and Birkdale Register, a well-arranged and valuable work issued every month by Mr Platt. His agencies are exceedingly numerous and valuable, He acts for Messrs. Fletcher, Burrows & Co., the well-known colliery proprietors, for Southport and district, and does a considerable business in this line. In insurance matters he is a most active agent, and holds agencies for pretty well every department of insurance business. He acts for the County Fire and the well-known Provident Life, as well as for the National Life, and in addition, he holds agencies for the Imperial Union for Accidents, and for the Edinburgh Employers’ Liability office. A special appointment from his Honor the Judge of the Liverpool County Court, under the provisions of the amended “Law of Distress Act” of 1888. Mr Platt also conducts horse sales once a month at the Railway Hotel Mews. He is very much respected throughout the town and district, and , in the conduct of his numerous branches of business, he has managed to make a large circle of friends by whom he is held in the highest esteem.
