Paddy Daly showed great promise as a schoolboy, representing Manchester and Lancashire Boys and being an England Schoolboy trialist. He joined Blackburn Rovers from school and was part of their Youth Cup-winning team that defeated Bobby Moore’s West Ham United in the final.Daly’s small stature likely limited his opportunities, resulting in only 3 League appearances for Blackburn in over four years as a professional. He was the second Blackburn player to sign for Southport during the 1961–62 season, alongside Jimmy Appleby. His ten Fourth Division games for Southport were divided between inside and outside-left positions.Daly enjoyed a seven-season spell in the Cheshire County League, particularly with Witton Albion, for whose manager, Ken Barnes, he held great admiration. He later worked as a taxi driver in Manchester.
