A seasoned player, Harry Deacon featured for Southport in the early part of the 1934–35 season, appearing in the first eight League games at inside-right. He lost his place unexpectedly, returning only for one more League appearance and the first of three F.A. Cup ties against New Brighton.A subtle playmaker, Deacon was a key figure for Swansea during his nine seasons with the club, making 318 League appearances and scoring 89 goals. He played a pivotal role in their promotion to the Second Division in 1924–25. At Crewe Alexandra, he added over 100 League appearances, bringing his career total to 478 appearances and 150 goals upon retirement in 1936.Deacon was also an accomplished musician, playing second violin in the Swansea Philharmonic. He expressed great disappointment upon retiring from football but later participated in a Swansea Past vs. Present game in 1939. He worked for Social Security and passed away at home from cancer.
