Archie Clement

The family moved to Chatham when he was very young; he enlisted after leaving school and served in Egypt for 6 years. In 1926-27 he played in the Chatham team which won the Kent League Division 1. Archie Clement missed only four games in his two seasons with New Brighton, his most successful spell in League football. All his games with the Rakers were at right-back. At Southport he was a regular at right-back until mid-January. Following his retirement from League football, he worked – like his father Reg, a former Spurs player – at Chatham Royal Navy dockyard. He died of thrombosis at the home he had lived in for 48 years.
