He had the unfortunate distinction of turning out for 5 clubs who later lost football league status!

Before making his football league bow he represented the Welsh League against the Southern League on 4th October 1922 at Fratton Park.

Aberdare Athletic’s Official Supporters Handbook said of him in 1923 that he was ‘possessed of youth, speed and dash and undoubtedly has a good future in front of him’.

Though Liverpool were induced to pay money for him, his appearances were restricted to 26 in their Central League side and he joined Southport on a free transfer.

He reserved his best scoring performance for his last game with the club when he netted four times against Accrington Stanley Reserves.

A quiet unassuming man who worked down the Welsh pits and later for Powell Duffryn, he was with the NCB up to retiring at 65.

He was twice widowed.
