“The Southport forwards played up better than usual. Newton Heath came with four successive victories and a “prophesy” of winning yesterday. Southport in lowering their colours achieve their third victory running, and are, to the satisfaction of many local admirers of the game, solidifying their strength, and regaining a position from which it must be the effort of other Southport clubs to dislodge them or fail gloriously in trying.”
