SOUTHPORT v TURTON – The opening game was played at Southport on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in a win for Southport by 3 goals to 1. The home team won the toss and played with a strong wind at their backs. They had the best of the game, but were only able to score once during the first half, Hodge adding the final touch, Bentley scoring a goal for Turton by a beautiful shot. Changing ends and with the wind against them, the seasiders played a capital passing game, and scored two more goals.
