TWO goals in the space of four minutes saw Hereford and Southport share the spoils.

Danny Lloyd opened the scoring with a well-worked goal for the Sandgrounders, but their lead was shortlived with Yusifu Ceesay levelling soon after. Both sides had chances in an even first half. In the fourth minute, Hereford’s Jaiden White saw a shot go behind for a corner, while at the other end, Jamie Proctor’s effort was tipped over. The best chance of the half fell to Southport in the 27th minute when Lloyd dragged his shot wide. White had another effort at goal in the 38th minute, while Ahkeem Rose also went close for the Bulls.

The opening 25 minutes of the second half were poor before it burst into life. After Proctor tried his luck with an acrobatic kick, Southport took the lead in the 70th minute. After receiving the ball on the right, Lloyd neatly turned before firing in.

However, Hereford were soon level when Ceesay ghosted in to volley the ball home. The game opened up during the final 15 minutes.

Declan McGlynn and Jason Cowley had efforts off target for Hereford, while Samuel Minihan fired over for Southport. And with the final kick of the game, Port’s David Morgan saw his corner clip the top of the crossbar.
