LANCASHIRE CHALLENGE CUP – SOUTHPORT v RISHTON
The second round of the competition for the Lancashire Association Challenge Cup finished on Saturday. Theres two clubs met at Rishton, and a very good game was played, Southport in the end losing by one goal. Rishton scored five goals to Southport four, but the latter team alleged one of those given to Rishton was the result of a foul, which was not however seen by the umpire. Teams:- SouthportL S.Platt, goal; W.Kay, H.Baxter, backs; J.B.Hands, R.L.Rylance, half-backs; J.Melross, E.Rambotham, rights, J.J.Briggs, T.Mellor, lefts, C.Ambler, T.B.Burnett (captain),centres…. W.Hatch, umpire, Mr Singleton (Darwen), referee.
